(From Discusiion Guide for Educators, Beacon Press)
White Fragility is a must read for all educators because racial disparities in access and opportunities continue to be an urgent issue in our schools. An educator's belief system can and does significantly impact how they aproach teaching and learning. Therefore, in a school system in which the teaching population remains primarily white and the student population continues to become more racially diverse, it is necessary for educators to develop the skill to engage in converstions about bias, race and racism-especially their own.
