Co-Teaching for English Learners (ELs) - A Guide to Collaborative Planning, Instruction, Assessment, and Reflection

Co-teaching to facilitate inclusion and equity in all classrooms. The proof is borne out by any assessment: our non-native speakers learn faster and achieve more when mainstream teachers and EL teachers co-plan and co-deliver instruction in the same classroom. That’s why you’ll want to put Co-Teaching for English Learners at the top of your professional development! This course is based on the book: A Guide to Collaborative Planning, Instruction, Assessment, and Reflection by Marian G. Dove & Andrea Honigsfeld. The book will be provided free of charge to all participants.

ALL teachers welcome! Whether you’re new to co-teaching or just see room for improvement in your practice, this book/course delivers every technique and tool needed to make the most of your collaboration, including video footage of co-teaching in action!

This is a blended learning opportunity with 13 hours of independent work (online) and 2 hours of face-to-face discussion to share learning outcomes = 15 PD hours.

Wednesday, October 24th 4:00 – 4:30 or Monday, October 30 4:00 – 4:30 (choose one time/date) at PD Center: face-to-face meeting to introduce the book and Canvas on-line format.

December face-to-face 1.5 hours follow-up meeting to share action plans: Date TBD by class participants.
