1-C 11:00-12:00 Barriers Faced By Hmong Students

Due to the unique sociocultural and language differences of the Hmong, this presents a different set of challenges for Hmong students.In this workshop, you will understand the many challenges that our Hmong students and their families face in the enculturation process towards achieving the American dream.There will also be a Hmong panel consisting of current DCE students and community members, who will discuss the barriers they faced in school and how they overcame these challenges.Strategies will also be given as to how educators can help Hmong students to overcome these sociocultural barriers in education.
