As a part of receiving over a half million dollars from the School Safety grant, we are required to have at least 10% of our staff attend a two day session on Adolescent Mental Health Training.
We have been lucky enough to have the opportunity to host one of these trainings in-district at NO COST to the district. It will be at the PD Center (Globe Building) on July 22 and 23rd. It is an opportunity to get valuable PD and log 12 hours of professional development.
It will be on a first-come-first serve basis. The link above will that will take you to a registration area.
Please be sure to register online and on the staff dev site to take attendance and get your PD hours.
The Adolescent Mental Health training curriculum was created by the National Center for Mental Health and Juvenile Justice. This 12-hour course includes information on developmentally appropriate behavior vs. mental illness, symptoms of specific diagnosis, trauma informed practices, de-escalation techniques, engaging parents in the process, and a community service provider discussion panel. Attendance is restricted to school employees and law enforcement officers.
